This unit came in with complaint of loss in throttle and derating intermittently. It had code 131 inactive for throttle pedal position sensor circuit. I show the fasted way to locate wiring faults and find/ correct the issue.

Had an issue with the Electronic Gauge Cluster throwing codes in BCM. Shorting out and causing interference on the 125K baud low speed datalink. This was affecting the door pods and switch packs. ended up beingna failing EGC. I show which circuits to test and how I came to the conclusion of failing gauge cluster.

    Interesting, there is very little taught about this stuff even on the courses at cummins them selfs.

      Agreed! Think of them as AC systems where reading the pressure gauges can tell or lead you to what's wrong internally. Same with the temp readings in aftertreatment systems. Won't tell you what the problem is, but will point you to the right direction for testing. Cheers

      Hey there, I didn't test resistance. Found a bad 5v ref circuit which was the problem.

      @@giff1011 sorry I don't. But if your 5vref, ground and signal circuits are good, then you have a bad sensor.

      No worries. I actually have a 2009 F-150 in which the abs module needed repair. Well that repair didn’t fix the problem and come to find out my pressure transducer also failed. So I rolled the dice on a 2010 unit the because I wasn’t about to spend 5-6x more for a 09 unit. Both are 4x2 and HCU pump assembly are the same part number and bolted right in. What I didn’t know and found out last night when installed the 2010 unit is they have a brake booster vacuum sensor. The 2009 didn’t have it. So where I am now is trying to figure out the nominal resistance value of that sensor at 5v so I can modify the “new” unit into thinking I have a good sensor. I don’t have computer capable of modifying the ABS controller module otherwise I just do that. Thx again for helping and if you happen to find that number please let me know I appreciate it.       They're good engines as long as you get one 2021 and newer OR 2017-2021 with a replaced head. The older heads were faulty with bad valve seats. Other then that, not too much goes wrong except NOX IN sensors, which is common on all engines.

      All kinds of codes. Egr circuit issues, pulling down 5vref so all other sensors that share the vref.

      What i found was what appeared to be paper towel jammed up inside the thermo recirculation valve, had me pretty stumped for a bit because everything tested good, i pulled the line off and saw a bunch of brown paper towel jammed up inside. I work at a peterbilt dealer and the truck came back 3 times for the same 559 code.

    Thank you for the informative video, sir. How does one test for power and ground at the TCM - are there particular pins? The 1-through-80-pin connector I am working with is similar to the one in the video. Thank you for any guidance you can offer. It means a lot.

      Hey there, yes there are pins to test at the connector for power, ground, ignition power and datalink. There should be information available for the connector mapping if googled 👍

      Thank you so much for the incredibly prompt guidance, sir. I greatly appreciate it. As directed, I found a map for the connector and checked the pins. It appears a small cracked developed in a pin, causing it to loosen. After addressing this matter, the truck ran properly. Thank you for taking time to support and direct me. It was pivotal.

    I have a mack pinnacle cxu mp8 mDrive that turns off the engine while draving it, and abs, atc, and the ⚡ symbol starts flashing, the rpm indicator star going up and down. I stop on the side of the road, take the key out, give it a break to turn off the cluster and try to start it agan, some times it cranks and starts like nothing happened and other times it takes more tries. It happened to me today like 8 times in the road while draving. You think something like that could caus it? I have no idea whats wrong with it

      Yea, sounds like you have an intermittent loss in power. Corrosion or rubbed thru wiring. If it gets worse, then you'll have to find the bad power circuit. Start with batter connections and work your way up

    You did a phenomenal job on this video. Be careful on the differential fluid. If it's quadra trac, it takes one type. If it's not quadra trac, it takes a different weight. Best way to see if your model is a quadra trac is to look for any badging on the rear tailgate or by the shifter on a floor console.

    What about a 0°- 15° inverted difference?

      That's not good. Run a couple regens to try to clear it up. If it's still inverted, you have soot deposits on your doc and/ or DPF. Remove and have them cleaned. Run another regen after they're clean to make sure temps aren't inverted. If they still are, your DOC is washed and needs to be replaced.

    I have kind of similar problem . After a two month a car was siting it was cranking a litle ruff when i came and buy a new agm battery then i noticed for a moment i cant open a window 5 mins all where fine then i cant lock the car sometimes the problem fixed by itself after a wihle my key wasnt able to unlock the car i paired it again but when i tryed tolock unlock sometimes corner lights wasnt working . After that came airbag problem later a abs and traction contorl. Then i was scared what is happening here went to mechanic and he sed i cant do nothing i cant conect to any modele in the body class. After that i came home and removed the carpet it was kind of wet then fixed the holes near back of the window and engine cpu water was coming over. And then i instaled impa instumental cluster showed k-bus short l IKI-EEPROM-Fehler, Codierung fehlerhaft/unvollstaendig Lichtmodul-EEPROM-Fehler then i picked yellow red white wire from rain sensor and cheked the ground yes its grounded to car with 40omh and after that i diskonected each module from the car but nothing helped after i checked x939 box there was i-bus wires and 2 of 6 was shorted a riped them apart and taped them. And now i still diging and trying to find any clue. Tomorow ill take all carpets and try dig deeper. Any advice?

      There should be a fuse panel/ module under the passenger side carpet also, I would check that if you had water in it.

    so what readings during this test are good if all EGR and DPF systems removed by reprogramming (s/w OWEADGMA) ? i had readings about up to 80 kPa during the air management test, and up to 190 kPa during driving cycle upward ti hill (truck only). Also installed new injectors (programmed to the ECM) and HPFP due to hard start.

      If you're running a deleted system, youd have to see how they deleted it. EGR values would have no change on IMP because coolers are usually blocked off. Some deletes weld or remove the turbo actuators. Youd have to go back to old school methods of diag which include watching your fuel pressures and checking for charge system leaks. This test would (for the most part) be useless with a delete.

I have 2 trucks ProStaR near me, and both have low power - on my channel here there are videos with BOTH of them - i could make an English soundtrack if wanted and post those movies to UA-cam again. These trucks seems to be very pretty to their owners-operators, but so poor power that we almost mad about it...

      @@diagnost_gitarist on a stock (factory) Maxxforce 13, for low power I would check to make sure the turbo actuator is not seized, make sure the air control valve is working proper and check the exhaust back pressure valve to be sure it's not seized down.

      @@diagnost_gitarist I have seen the exhaust back pressure valve stuck closed even on deleted units that caused it to have low power. Make sure the rod is not visible and is staying up. It's located behind the turbocharger

      Hey there! Yes it is, still going strong. Batteries don't hold their charge as long but that's to be expected from something used that heavily. I'll get the batteries rebuilt if it gets really bad. It still pulls nuts like no one's business tho 👍 My buddies that bought the Milwaukee 3/4" had already had the whole units replaced, so that's saying something about durability and longevity. Cheers mate!

    Hello. Freightliner Cascadia 2016 Auto. The truck won't start the tractor's ABS light is on and the DEF light is red Flashing No check engine light. The dashboard screen does not show the transmission message and the screen just stuck with Underscore marks.

      Hey there. See if you can hook up to the ecm and see what the codes are. If you cant and it's not cranking. I would check for power and ground to ecm and tcm.
